The annual fixture booklet which is provided to all members lists the full range of games played during our playing season from mid April until mid September.
The ladies play their league matches in the Bowls Wiltshire and Norwest Leagues and, in addition, enjoy at friendly games against local opposition. Club competitions are keenly contested in 2 and 4 bowl singles and doubles. Entries are also encouraged into County and National competitions.
Like the ladies, our men have Club competitions and are encouraged to enter events at County and National level. A greater involvement in league games lessens the number of friendly matches played, with a game in the Bowls Wiltshire Four Rink League each week and two matches every Thursday evening in the Mid Wilts Triples League.
Each Monday afternoon a team is selected to play a match in the North Wilts Mixed League and a number of mixed friendlies are played at weekends throughout the season, both at home and away.
Friday night is Club Night when a short friendly game between members is organised and this is usually followed by a social get together in the Clubhouse. A quiz is held on a monthly basis throughout the year, this being interspersed with whist drives and other events to suit members tastes. Saturday morning is the time when our coaches are busy helping members to learn the game of bowls, or assisting more experienced members to improve their game.
Saturday morning is also the time when our Junior Members meet to practice. The juniors, aged from 8 to 18, can become members of Bowls Wiltshire Youth Academy and take part in County and National competition. As they gain experience the young bowlers are welcomed into all games played by the Club.
All of this, plus the annual mixed pairs event, the Club open days, and other one off events, means that our annual fixture and social list fills up nicely.
